Connor McSweeney, MSW, LCSW.
Connor McSweeney is an independently licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) currently providing mental health therapy services out of Helena, Montana. Connor is currently only accepting clients virtually (via Simple Practice's Telehealth feature).
Connor graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2018 from the University of Montana in Missoula before packing up and moving across the nation to begin his Master's Degree in Social Work at the University of New England in Portland, Maine (2020). Upon completing his Master's of Social Work in 2022, Connor began completing over three thousand hours of clinical practice under a fully licensed mental health provider (psychologist, Psychiatrist, LCSW) to obtain full independent licensure. Connor obtained his full/independent license in November 2024
Connor has engaged in clinical work with individuals spanning the life course and with multiple varying cultures and communities. He is adept at working within (and through) complex family dynamics, in individual, couple/marital, or family settings.
While working with different families throughout his career, Connor has developed competency (and humility to learn) when working with both "historically traditional" (heterosexual, married, monotheistic, biological offspring) and historically unrecognized families (aging caregivers, LGBTQ+NB, siblings as caregivers, families facing substance use and addiction, families with members in incarceration).
Through the use of a client-centered, relational approach with supplemental psycho-education, Connor supports those he works with in identifying, defining, and accepting their pathways forward and facilitates motivation to begin taking actions toward meeting goals in alignment with values.
Connor is currently centering his practice around working with young adults and supporting them in navigating new and emerging issues.
